Similar to industrial noise assessed against BS 4142: 1997 ‘Method for rating industrial noise affecting mixed residential and industrial areas’, the noise break-out from premises should be controlled as not to cause a noise nuisance.

In order to minimise the noise disruption from entertainment or leisure venues, we can carry out a noise survey at the likely affected nearest noise sensitive receptors, and hence aim to design any noise break-out from the existing or proposed site to be an acceptable level. A typical guideline figure which Local Authorities can expect a venue to operate to could be e.g. noise from entertainment to be in audible or 10 dB below the existing background level LA90 at the nearest residential dwelling. It should be noted that this is in addition to any fixed plant equipment which should be assessed separately.

Using various prediction techniques and detailed calculations, we aim to control the noise break-out to a suitable level as per the individual client’s needs and/or requests based on the proposed site usage.
