Transportation Noise


Dynamic Response understands that the transport network is essential to many industries although at the same time, it is a large contributor of noise pollution.

Transportation noise includes not only road and rail, but also aircraft/airport noise. It has been seen that an increasing number of new development proposals are asking for permission to develop properties in ‘high noise’ areas.

In these cases, Local Planning Authority may ask for a noise assessment to ensure that their own noise criteria for example noise levels in habitable rooms not exceeding 35 dB LAeq,T(07:00-23:00) and 30 dB LAeq,T(23:00-07:00) hours, will be met along with the requirements of relevant standards such as 'Planning Policy Guidance 24 - Planning and noise' (PPG24). As transportation traffic increases on the road, rail and air networks over time, so does the noise with it. The need to reduce noise levels both within and around residential dwellings during both the daytime and night-time periods is deemed important and as such following a noise survey to determine the exact noise levels, we may be able to provide:

• Detailed Calculations And Specifications For Upgraded Glazing To Include The Size, Glass Thickness And Required Acoustic Performance Etc.
• Detailed Calculations And Specifications For Upgraded Ventilation To Include The Type Of Ventilator And Required Acoustic Performance Etc.
• Detailed Calculations And Specifications For Acoustic Barriers Or Acoustic Fencing To Include The Material Choice, Height, Length And Distance To Noise Source Or Receiver Etc.

In addition, we can also provide assessments for existing or proposed transportation noise sources for highways using the 'Calculation Of Road Traffic Noise' (CRTN) and/or the 'Calculation Of Rail Noise' (CRN)
